Lower Back Pain Sufferers Can Find Relief at the Laser Spine Institute

Lower Back Pain Sufferers Can Find Relief at the Laser Spine Institute

Lower back pain is one of the most common complaints doctors get. Fortunately, many of those suffering with that discomfort find relief with time, as the injury causing the pain heals. For others however, the pain may continue on and even worsen as they grapple with conditions like sciatica, degenerative disc disease, herniated discs, stenosis, and more.  For those people, there may be a long series of treatments as their doctors try to find something that works. At the end of the line for lower back pain sufferers is surgery. While the prospect may be scary, it doesn’t have to be. That’s because Laser Spine Institute offers a range of minimally invasive procedures that can relieve lower back pain without all the hospitalization and risks associated with traditional back surgery. Plus, your time commitment is just five days.

Here’s how it works:

  • Day 1: A new patient evaluation is conducted. A medical history and physical are performed, along with an EKG and lab work. You are also given new MRIs and/or X-rays if needed.
  • Day 2: A surgeon talks to you about your MRI, and diagnostic tests are run of needed.
  • Day 3: After a discussion about the local anesthetic and IV sedative that will be administered to you, the surgery is performed, and you are released to recover at home or your hotel.
  • Day 4: You return to LSI for a post-operative check-up and your physical therapy starts.
  • Day 5: You receive a second session of physical therapy and are then discharged to go home.

Once you return home, it may take up to two weeks for you to return to your normal activities. If you’re like the majority of our patients—more than 85%—you’ll feel relief from your lower back pain within the first three months following surgery. Some even feel relief on the operating table.

If you’d like to learn more about opportunities for relief at LSI, contact us today. We’ll review your MRI or CT scan for free to determine whether you’re a good candidate for laser surgery.
